Heartburn caused by acid reflux is a very common complaint across the globe. The causes for this are many- ranging from the consumption of foods that cause heartburn to stress and other medical causes. Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid gets pushed up into the oesophagus. Oesophagus is the tube that transfers food from the mouth to the stomach. Some reflux is totally ordinary and harmless, usually resulting in no symptoms. But when it happens too frequently, it burns the inside of the oesophagus.

Acidity results from stomach acid travelling back into the oesophagus. This acid can irritate the lining of the oesophagus leading to a burning and a painful sensation in the chest. This can be due to many things, but one of the significant causes is one’s lifestyle
